boxing history for everyone
Boxing is defined as being the art of hitting an opponent, without you getting his kicks. Boxing is a sport not only for men, as we may think at a first glance. It is a sport both for men and women. Someone said about boxing to be “the most powerful resistance workout capacity, is to transform the body into weapons unarmed” (Egon Erwin Kisch). It takes more than only desire of being a good boxer. You need a good continuously technical training, a harmonious overall physical development, great rapidity in executing the movement of hitting the opponent and defending yourself from his attacks, determination, agility, courage and a great tactical intelligence.
The origin of boxing goes long back in time, when it was only a power struggle, a violent confrontation, brutal, when the strongest won the fight. This way appeared the winners of antiques Greek Olympiads, and then the roman gladiators, who were fighting to gain applauses and the emperor’s mercy. The first rules in practicing box appear in about 18th century in England, when the old types of game end. The most important rule was that who obliged the competitors to wear special boxing gloves. In time, the rules are perfected, so the game changes and rules are imposed. The new rules fix the meeting time, the space combat, hits that are allowed and disallowed, dividing the boxers into weight categories and so on. Once with these rules, the boxers are grouped into amateurs and professionals. Thus, the rules are a bit different from a category to another. First, the time of a boxing match differs. The boxers must not wear beard or mustache, or have their bodies oily. They must wear light special boxing shoes. The safety belt is mandatory to both categories. Also the gloves have different weights for amateurs and professionals.
There are some things boxers are not allowed to do, if they want not to be disqualified: hitting below the belt or kick it to sketch; to jump to the floor, not to keep fighting; hitting the fallen opponent or getting him up from wreck; hitting the opponent after the command "stop" on referee; hitting his head, leg, shoulder or knee; talk during the game; to keep or to make the rope swing ring. Those are the basic rules that must be obeyed in a boxing game. Boxing is the ideal game to maintain your tonus without getting bored.
